I worked at Chipotle's for about four months, which means that I have MANY rants and raves about the "fastest growing corporation in America." Which by the way, I'm pretty sure half of the new ones their opening will be closed down within a year.
*PROMOTION PROMOTION PROMOTION! I am SO SICK of hearing about Chipotle's stupid promotions! In the four months that I was there, the Kitchen Manager was promoted to Service Manager (she BARELY spoke english and couldn't find her ass with both hands) and the Service Manager was promoted to Apprentice (the guy was dumber than dirt!) I couldn't believe how many people were hired just to be fill spots.
*Females are treated totally differently than males. The males at my store were required to do the bare minimum at work, while the girls were expected to pick up all the slack. I can recall all the times I had to prepare the salsa's, cook the chips, cook the crunchy taco's, make the dressing, etc., while the men just sat outside and smoked.
*Minimum wage for maximum work. I can understand how McDonalds employee's only make minimum wage, but c'mon. At Chipotle's the amount of work that we had to do was astronomical. Cleaning something that is spotless to begin with is a waste of my time and company money.
*They give away SO MUCH FOOD to new customers to keep them coming back, but throw the extra food away at night! There is so much food leftover at night, because the crew is constantly making fresh food (even when it's not needed.) Atleast 25 bags of chips are thrown away at night, not to mention the pounds of meat, cheese, salsa's, etc. that go straight to the dumpster. If you care SO MUCH about humanly raising animals and fair compensation for the farmers, why not care about the hungry? Why not donate?
*If you forget to punch in, oh well! They still owe me for two hours, because the managers are too lazy to fix it in the database (I was literally told that "It looks bad for the managers when they have to change hours paid.) Are you kidding me??
*THE CUSTOMERS ARE ALWAYS RIGHT! Yeah, we've all heard it in the restaurant biz, but in Chipotle's case-the customer gets whatever the fuck they want. You want 86 scoops of rice in your burrito for free? SURE! Why not?! You want a water cup to fill up 27 times with soda? Of course, go right ahead! UGH!!!!!!!!
*I worked primarily on cash, which is the worst position you can have at Chipotle. Not only do you have to ring everyone up, you are also expected to run back and forth to get things that the line people need, keep the dining room spotless and maintain the bathrooms. Yeah it seems easy enough, but when the line is out the door and the managers are on your ass to clean the dining room while they do nothing....that was the last straw. I decided to quit after the 999th time they said that to me. Also working on cash, if you want to go smoke a butt outside you have to come back in if a customer comes in (because the managers don't want to count their drawer at the end of the night...lazyyyy!!!!) Line people get to go outside and socialize for 20 minutes.
*If you're scheduled until 4 PM, don't expect to get out at 4. They want YOU to stay until they finish chatting in the back room! I have never ONCE got out of work at the time that I was scheduled until. If the night cashier doesn't come in that night, too bad! You're stuck!
And finally...THE FOOD ISN'T THAT GOOD PEOPLE! It's not amazing! It's cheaper to go to Acapolco's and get a burrito!!!!!
DUH!!!!
